Game Drives

Mazambala offers game drives in the Bwabwata National Park which is noted for its huge herds of elephants - herds of several hundred elephants are not uncommon. The park has a great variety of animals including 4 of the “Big Five”. Game drives start with a 10 - 15 minute cruise by boat down the river and then a transfer to a game drive vehicle for a game drive on land in the park. The game drive typically lasts about 4 hours, depending on the elephants. Elephants often block the road which results in interesting delays. Beer and cold drinks on the game drive are included in the price.

Boat Cruises

These are leisurely floats, lasting about 2 hours, down the crystal clear water of the Kwando River and its labyrinth of papyrus and reed lined channels. One can just about guarantee that people will see hippos and Lechwes, and of course lots of other game including crocodiles, elephants, etc. In addition the rare swamp antelope, Sitatunga, is often seen. And, of course, many beautiful birds. What people especially enjoy is the quietness and unspoilt nature on the river. Beer and cool drinks are included in the price.
